Missing the Moon?

With Easter around the corner, our church had everyone involved in Wednesday Night activities participate in the Lord's Supper last night. Since the college group goes to Prayer Meeting on Wednesdays - we had the Lord's Supper with them and led by our pastor. Last night as he spoke about the reasons for the Lord's Supper and what it means to us - he spoke of it being a time to start over, to realign, to readjust.

He gave an example of a spacecraft traveling from Earth to the Moon. After the blastoff, they are continually realigning it's path due to the rotation of Earth, and the orbits of both Earth and the Moon. If the rotations and orbit were constant, and the spacecraft was aimed directly at the moon, it would be a direct path with no redirection needed. However, if the rotations and orbits were constant and the spacecraft were off target by just 1 degree, the spacecraft would miss the Moon by more than 1 million miles. Interesting.

Like the rotation of the Earth and Orbits of the Earth and Moon has an effect on the path of the spacecraft, so life has an effect on our spiritual path. Imagine if everything in life were constant - we would still miss righteousness by far because sin makes our life off target by at least a degree - if not more. Now add in all of life's inconsistencies and influences that effect our path - how far off are you now? Our walk with Christ takes realignment and readjustment - constantly! Thankfully, the sacrifice Christ paid on the Cross for our sins allows us first of all be able to have a path to God - and secondly - allows us to start again (and again and again and again... ). Our God is many things - and one of them is forgiving. (thank goodness!) He allows you to realign and readjust your focus. However, he also gives us free will to choose what we focus our lives on. What are you going to focus your life on? How are you going to reflect on your life during this Easter Season? - the holiday we use to celebrate that Christ paid the penalty for our sin, allows us to choose to accept Him and his sacrifice as atonement for our sin and allow Him to be Lord of our life, and to celebrate that He rose on the third day and is Seated at the right hand of God the Father. Our God is alive and can make you alive too. Use this season to realign, rededicate, readjust your life to Christ - or make the adjustment for the first time!
