Dreaming...
I have thought about posting my dreams before, just to keep a record of the wacky things that go through my head in the night. So finally I am sitting down to write my first one. I am not promising this will be exciting.
Last night I dreamt (is that right?) that John and I were doing a 5k. But this 5K had a twist. Before you actually ran the 5K, you had to work your way through this house - not like any other house. You couldn't just walk through the doors, but you had to find secret passage ways and secret doors. It was like a maze/obstacle course. We still had the chip timers on our shoes, but they would start when you entered the house, then reset when you left the house - so you'd get two times - one for the obstacle course and one for the 5K. I know - weird. I saw Susie in the house. We started talking about clothes from The Children's Place cause she likes to spoil her grandchildren. And I saw someone else I recognized from my dream (I don't think I actually know her) and she was running with her boyfriend, but she had a big poufy dress on top of her running clothes!
I woke up before we ever made it to the running part of the 5K. In fact, I am not sure I ever made it out of the house. I remember wandering off to find the next secret door - I went through an auditorium filled with people, but I was the only racer. Maybe I went the wrong way.

I HEART MY DYSON!
So I bought a Dyson this weekend. I have been wanting one for forever. I cant beleive I broke down and bought it, but after this weekend, I think it is worth every penny! When John and I came home with it, I made him vacuum with my old vacuum (which I didnt think really did much since I could still see dog hair on the floor - and I nearly burned up the motor the other day by vacuuming up a dog chewy). John was very disappointed he got the job of using the old vacuum, but he did it. Then I used the Dyson and OH MY GOSH! Below is a picture (ignor the fact that I look like a dork) of the canister - the first canister full (of 3) just from the living room and dining room! How have I been living in this filth?! The next picture is the trashcan - about 1 sqare foot of filth from my carpets in the whole apartment. YUCK!!
I then proceeded to let John's parents vacuum thier house - very short carpet and vacuumed up 1 canister - after vacuuming thier house the day before. And on my way home, I stopped off at Melanie's house - medium length carpet - 1 and a half canisters!

Missing the Moon?
With Easter around the corner, our church had everyone involved in Wednesday Night activities participate in the Lord's Supper last night. Since the college group goes to Prayer Meeting on Wednesdays - we had the Lord's Supper with them and led by our pastor. Last night as he spoke about the reasons for the Lord's Supper and what it means to us - he spoke of it being a time to start over, to realign, to readjust.
He gave an example of a spacecraft traveling from Earth to the Moon. After the blastoff, they are continually realigning it's path due to the rotation of Earth, and the orbits of both Earth and the Moon. If the rotations and orbit were constant, and the spacecraft was aimed directly at the moon, it would be a direct path with no redirection needed. However, if the rotations and orbits were constant and the spacecraft were off target by just 1 degree, the spacecraft would miss the Moon by more than 1 million miles. Interesting.
Like the rotation of the Earth and Orbits of the Earth and Moon has an effect on the path of the spacecraft, so life has an effect on our spiritual path. Imagine if everything in life were constant - we would still miss righteousness by far because sin makes our life off target by at least a degree - if not more. Now add in all of life's inconsistencies and influences that effect our path - how far off are you now? Our walk with Christ takes realignment and readjustment - constantly! Thankfully, the sacrifice Christ paid on the Cross for our sins allows us first of all be able to have a path to God - and secondly - allows us to start again (and again and again and again... ). Our God is many things - and one of them is forgiving. (thank goodness!) He allows you to realign and readjust your focus. However, he also gives us free will to choose what we focus our lives on. What are you going to focus your life on? How are you going to reflect on your life during this Easter Season? - the holiday we use to celebrate that Christ paid the penalty for our sin, allows us to choose to accept Him and his sacrifice as atonement for our sin and allow Him to be Lord of our life, and to celebrate that He rose on the third day and is Seated at the right hand of God the Father. Our God is alive and can make you alive too. Use this season to realign, rededicate, readjust your life to Christ - or make the adjustment for the first time!

5K (times 4!)
Well the race is over - and what an adventure! John and I left the house at 6:15 Sunday Morning to get the Dallas Fair Park by 6:45am for the 7:30am start time. For some reason I-30 always has traffic around the Fair Park area - and on this morning, there was a wreck so we sat at almost at our exit for an hour! The really dedicated runners got out of their cars (someone else was driving) and ran the 2 miles to Fair Park to get there in time - just a warm-up right? John and I stayed in the car.
When we finally arrived at Fair Park, the race had already started and we couldn't find any race officials anywhere (poor planning if you ask me.) Also - we only saw one starting line (unmarked) and no one else knew any better than us - so we headed out on the trail. It wasn't until we got to the 5K mark did we think it was and even more poorly planned race - because we were no where near Fair Park. Not only could our time be recorded because there was no 5K "Finish Line" but - you either have to backtrack (and do another 5k?) or go forward and finish a Half Marathon. Well, John and I were so thankful to the Lord for a great day - so we decided to go forward... how hard could it be if we just walked it? Let me tell you - 13 MILES hurts more than I expected!!!
Everyone was so nice at each of the rest-stops and only a few noticed our Blue 5K race bibs. But everyone was so cheerful and supportive. John and I had such a great time power walking together, enjoying the day, and seeing parts of Dallas we hadn't seen before. We went from Fair Park to White Rock Lake - through some beautiful neighborhoods (and some not so great) and back to Fair Park.
It wasn't until we got to the finish line that we were really embarrassed for the trek we took. About three and a half hours after we started - we walked across the finish line - with everyone cheering - and an announcer saying "way to go 5K-ers" - (because we had on the 5K bibs). NO! It didn't take us 3.5 hours for 5K!! We did the half marathon!! We did the 5K - four times over! That was quite embarrassing - but no one knew us... I don't think! Oh well. We know what we accomplished - and our bodies will probably remind us for the next week!
I don't think I have ever appreciated a shower, Sports-Creme (or Ben-Gay), and talcum powder more than I do right now! Again, we had a great time and look forward to running some more races in the future - after some more training and making sure we are on the right trail! Once I upload the race picture we took and see if there were any from the official race photographers - I will forward them to you. Of course, John posed for one of the photographers - so hopefully we can get that one!
