Of course - its the new year and many people make resolutions about their fitness levels. I don't really make resolutions at all, but this year my trainer asked that we make some goals for 2009 and that he would keep us accountable (by us, I mean Rachael and myself since we train together). In addition to these goals, in the first 3 months of 2009, our trainer is having a "Biggest Loser" contest of sorts. Its not just about weight though. The contest will have a point system, based on relative amount of weight, circumference and body fat % loss, as well as number of food and workout logs sent to Trent (the trainer). I think I tend to do well with this sort of accountability because, not only does it spur on competition, but I have a love affair with numbers and I like to track progress - so it suits me well.
I had a membership to 24 Hour Fitness, but when I bought the house, I was so consumed with the remodel and such that I ended up cancelling my membership because I wasn't going to the gym and didn't want to waste the extra money if it wasn't being used. However, now that things have settled down, I decided to go back - and got a great deal for paying for a full year! I also thought it would be a good thing to have the membership as it would offer me lots of ways to cross train with my running - especially since I have injuries and running on them is not wise. So I have already been swimming and used the stair stepper (the one like real stairs)! I think having a membership also encourages me to workout because we know I wasn't doing my workouts at home.
Another new tool for accountability is my new Wii Fit! Its pretty fun and likes to hold you accountable for checking in frequently. It will be a good compliment to my workouts for balance and stability. Fun Stuff.
I have been pretty good about logging my food as well and have been using CalorieKing.com to do this. I have used CalorieKing.com before, but they have changed things up a bit. I really like that they have a system that walks you through nutrition, exercise, and general wellness education. Some information I already know, but it is good to hear it again. My biggest weakness is the weekends - especially when I am being lazy and don't want to cook/make anything. I end up snacking, not caring how much I eat - just eating. I need to watch that.
One of my goals as well was to finally complete the 100 pushup challenge and the new 200 situp challenge - so far, training is on schedule. I tried to complete the 100 pushups in 2008, but wasn't disciplined to stay on course. I admit, it may end up being "girl" pushups, but I am starting off sticking with "boy" pushups. And in my mind, 200 situps will be much easier than 100 pushups.
I am going to start a new list! I am going to list all workouts on my blog thru THIS LINK
